Lawyer Delevic: The Prosecutor's Office has initiated proceedings against the President of the Football Association of Kosovo and Metohija due to the jerseys
Lawyer Milos Delevic told Kosovo Online that Igor Uljarevic, the President of the Football Association of Kosovo and Metohija, was detained yesterday, and that the Special Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation against him for the criminal offense of inciting discord and intolerance.
During a routine check at the Brnjak crossing, jerseys were found in his possession with the inscriptions "Football Association of Kosovo and Metohija" and "No Surrender."
These jerseys allegedly provoked citizens of Albanian nationality in Kosovo, although he stated that neither he nor the football players ever wore the controversial jerseys in public, Delevic said.
"He received the jerseys as a gift and kept them in the trunk. Due to the inscriptions on the jerseys, the police and the Special Prosecutor's Office are effectively banning children from engaging in sports, which should be kept separate from politics," the lawyer stated.
Uljarevic is defending himself at liberty, and the offense of inciting discord and intolerance carries a penalty of up to five years in prison.
