Lopandic: Kurti's unwillingness to respect the Brussels Agreement makes the normalization process difficult

After a period of heightened tension in the context of the situation in Kosovo, I think it would be good for everyone to normalize the situation and then move towards the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina, which should have been the subject of negotiations in the beginning, says the vice president of the SRCE movement, Dusko Lopandic, Danas reports.

Unfortunately, he adds, it is difficult to expect things to go that way, bearing in mind the almost zero level of trust that exists between the two sides, as well as the series of moves by the Government of Albin Kurti, which only further collapsed the minimum communication with the Serbs from the north.

"From the dismissal of police officers and the arrest of people to the ban on the entry of the Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church into the territory of Kosovo. It is of vital importance for Serbia to maintain constructiveness, first in the dialogue with mediators from the European Union and the United States of America, and then, as far as possible, with the representatives of Pristina", Lopandic believes.

According to Lopandic, Kurti's essential unwillingness to respect the Brussels Agreement makes this process difficult.

"Serbia has an interest in moving towards finding a political solution as a way to get out of the vicious circle of Kosovo and to turn to solving other accumulated internal and external issues, from the blocked EU accession process to the topics of democracy, respect for the rule of law, media freedoms", Lopandic concludes.
