Lucic: Every day brings new challenges, the need for the CSM is evident

The General Director of "Telekom Srbija," Vladimir Lucic, emphasized that the company is faced with new challenges in Kosovo almost daily, stressing that this shows how much the Community of Serb Municipalities is needed.

Speaking to TV Prva, Lucic said he is very optimistic that the new US administration understands the company’s position regarding its operations in Kosovo.

“It seems to me that they are much closer to our way of thinking, and it looks like this administration will support us even more,” Lucic said.

He expressed hope for a final resolution regarding the treatment of “Telekom Srbija” in Kosovo.

“I hope for a lasting solution, for us to be treated like all other operators, to be granted a third license, and to no longer be prevented from developing our cable network,” Lucic stated.

He recalled that after “Telekom Srbija” acquired four cable operators, the authorities in Pristina passed a new law on company acquisitions, aimed at halting the expansion of the company.

“First they tried to shut us down, and when that failed, they tried to limit us. There are constant surprises,” Lucic emphasized.

As an example, he mentioned the takeover of the premises of the Post of Serbia.

“Even though we have a general agreement under which 'Telekom' pays the Post of Serbia for using the premises across the entire territory of Serbia, now the director of the Post of Kosovo is contacting us, wanting to make a new agreement. That is a new challenge,” Lucic pointed out.

He said he expects reason from the authorities in Pristina, as relocating telephone exchanges is a difficult task.

“Even though they have seized the Post of Serbia buildings, I hope they won’t carry out repression against us,” Lucic said.

He noted that pressure is being exerted on the Serbian population in Kosovo, with even cultural and artistic associations being forcibly shut down.

“These are all absurdities that show just how much the Community of Serb Municipalities is needed,” Lucic concluded.
