Serbian Prime Minister Djuro Macut hosted a luncheon today for ambassadors of countries that have not recognized Kosovo's independence, thanking each of them individually for their support in safeguarding Serbia's territorial integrity and sovereignty and for their commitment to upholding international law.

Macut stressed that Serbia does not forget its friends and remains a reliable partner in the shared effort to uphold the principles upon which the United Nations and the international order are founded, the Government's Office for Media Relations said in a statement.

"Our common struggle to preserve territorial integrity and sovereignty is at the same time a struggle to preserve the fundamental principles of the UN Charter and international law," Macut said.

According to the prime minister, the situation in Kosovo is extremely serious, and the daily attacks against the Serbian population—including, as he stated, arbitrary deprivation of liberty and the denial of fundamental human rights—clearly indicate that the authorities in Pristina aim to drive the remaining non-Albanian population out of Kosovo by creating and maintaining intolerable living conditions.

He particularly emphasized that the Serbian community has been waiting for more than 13 years for the establishment of the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities, which he described as a mechanism for protecting their individual and collective rights.

"I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate that this is a binding obligation and an integral part of the Brussels Agreement," the Serbian prime minister said, calling on Serbia's partners to continue exerting pressure on Pristina to fulfill its commitments.

Macut reiterated that Belgrade remains committed to the dialogue process but "will never renounce its southern province."

"The Republic of Serbia remains your friend, and you can count on our assistance in every area where you may need it," the prime minister told the ambassadors and chargés d'affaires of Morocco, Brazil, Algeria, Cambodia, Iran, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Argentina, Myanmar, Indonesia, Azerbaijan, Venezuela, Tunisia, Palestine, Cuba, the Russian Federation, Iraq, China, Kazakhstan, Ghana, Belarus, and the Holy See.
