Member of the Serbian Assembly from Kosovo, Ljubomir Maric, stated that all the worst things happening to the Serbs in northern Kosovo since Albin Kurti had come to power were occurring in four municipalities in the north, including the attempt by these local authorities to join the Association of Kosovo Municipalities. He believes these are consequences of the non-formation of the CSM.

"Everything we have today in the territory of these four municipalities in northern Kosovo and Metohija, the entire escalation, and certainly the general state of attacks, arrests, killings, and all the worst things happening since Albin Kurti took office, is a consequence of the non-formation of the CSM," Maric says in an interview with Kosovo Online.

He adds that all decisions made by councilors and mayors in the four northern municipalities with a Serb majority are illegitimate, including their municipalities' affiliation with the Association of Kosovo Municipalities.

The Municipality of North Mitrovica has already been admitted to this Association, and councilors from the assemblies of Leposavic, Zvecan, and Zubin Potok have recently initiated the process of joining.

The current local authorities in the north were elected in the April 23 elections, which the Serbs boycotted, resulting in a turnout of only about 3.5 percent. The imposition of illegitimate Albanian mayors by force, with the assistance of Kosovo Police, has caused a crisis in the north that continues to this day. Pristina refuses to fulfill the demands of the EU and the US for de-escalation, including new elections in the north and the formation of the CSM.

"The decisions made by illegitimate sheriffs in the four local self-governments in the north are certainly illegitimate, and I would not comment on them in any way because I do not want to give them any legality or legitimacy. What they are doing and why we are in trouble is the non-formation of the CSM," Maric emphasized.

He explains that everything would be different if the CSM was formed.

"If the CSM was formed, the mayors would certainly still be the legitimate and legal representatives of the Serbs, or the citizens living in the four local self-governments in the north," Maric emphasized.
