Markovic: By attacking SOC, Kurti gets points from the Albanians, I'm not sure that the Quint will be able to restrain him
Historian Predrag Markovic says for Kosovo Online that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti is raising the bar of provocation by trying to criminalize the SOC and the Serbian healthcare system in Kosovo, through accusations of alleged arms smuggling, that there is no one to stop him and warns that the situation is on the verge of tragedy.
"Kurti is doing all this systematically, the next step is probably to search the sick in the ambulances and take off the robes of the priests. Everything that is happening, including the latest attacks on the SOC and healthcare, is a message to the Serbs - get out of Kosovo, you don't belong here. Kurti is increasing the level of provocations and there is no one to stop him. The situation is on the verge of tragedy. We believe in the Quint, and I am not sure that they can restrain him," says Markovic.
He believes that Kurti's attacks on the Serbian Orthodox Church are raising his "price" with the Albanian electorate.
"I believe that Kurti will win the next election as well, because Albanians hate everything Serbian, hate a Serbian grave, let alone a Serbian monastery. It attacks the SOC, which is one of the most important pillars for the survival of Serbs in Kosovo, and in certain historical periods, the only one. And not only that, even the Ottoman state guarded the churches in Kosovo, the Italians during the occupation in the Second World War, and especially since 1999. But, here, not Kurti," notes our interlocutor.
Regarding the accusations of the alleged smuggling of weapons by paramedics from central Serbia to the Orthodox churches in Kosovo, British MP Alicia Kearns said that "if it is defamation, which can be proven, then it should be severely prosecuted".
"I wonder where Mrs. Kearns was to protest when more than 20 years ago weapons were smuggled in Kosovo for the purposes of the KLA rebellion against Serbia, even by her government? Where was she when drug smuggling in Kosovo was tolerated in every way to help the Albanian project of ethnic cleansing of Kosovo," Markovic asks.
He points out that "the KLA and the Albanians have turned from a terrorist, criminal organization into the best friends of the USA and Great Britain in the region."
"The American and British generals from the First and Second World Wars are rolling over in their graves as Serbs and Serbia were their most loyal allies. However, we can now imagine a great diplomatic trick by the British state in the case of the accusations made by Kearns, and what if it is about the most ordinary corruption? I would say that here it is not a question of some high policy of London, but rather corruption, where the strings are pulled from Pristina", Markovic believes.
