Michel: Immediate de-escalation in northern Kosovo and continuation of dialogue needed

President of the European Council, Charles Michel, stated today, following a meeting with Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic in Brussels, that an urgent de-escalation of the situation in northern Kosovo is needed, as is the continuation of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina with the mediation of the European Union.

Michel wrote on Twitter that it is crucial for Serbia to continue with reforms in order to progress on the path toward the EU.

"During the meeting with Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, the EU Council delivered a clear message on the need for immediate de-escalation of the situation in the north of Kosovo and the continuation of EU-facilitated dialogue. It is crucial for Serbia to continue reforms to advance on the EU path," Michel wrote.

He also emphasized that the future of the Western Balkans is in the European Union.
