Mijacic: In the coming months, the key focus of the dialogue will be the stabilization of northern Kosovo

The tragic events in Banjska have shown that there is no solution for Kosovo other than the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, Dragisa Mijacic, the coordinator of the National Convention on the EU for Chapter 35, says, adding that in the coming months, the dialogue will focus on negotiations to stabilize the situation in the north.

"No one can escape from dialogue; dialogue is the only solution; there is no other, and the situation in Banjska has shown that, although there may be tendencies to resolve the situation differently, that will not be allowed. Negotiations and dialogue are the only solution," Mijacic emphasized for Kosovo Online.

He notes that all issues from the dialogue that were previously left open still remain.

In that sense, he says that the obligation to form the Community of Serb Municipalities remains, as does the implementation of the normalization agreement, the Brussels Agreement, and its Ohrid Annex.

"What's new is that there will be no more incidents in northern Kosovo allowed, and efforts will be made to stabilize the situation in the north," Mijacic points out.

He emphasizes that the key question is whether further activities, primarily by special police forces, will precede the stabilization of the situation or whether KFOR and EULEX will be more engaged.

He notes that the engagement of KFOR and EULEX is a justified request and a necessity for the Serbian side.

"I believe that in the coming period, the next few weeks, even months, the key focus will be on stabilizing the north, calming the situation in the north, and negotiations will revolve around that, and of course, in parallel diplomacy, everything related to the normalization agreement," Mijacic concludes.
