Mijacic: It is almost certain that Self-Determination will base its campaign on further pressure on the Serbian people

The coordinator of the Working Group of the National Convention on the EU for Chapter 35, Dragisa Mijacic, stated that it is almost certain that Self-Determination will base its campaign for the December 28 elections on continued pressure on the Serbian people.

He notes that this party has for years run a campaign exclusively linked to issues in the north.

“They came with a slogan of new jobs and justice. We saw that there were neither significant increases in new jobs nor any significant justice, but we did see a lot of pressure on the Serbian community and on everything that was happening in the north,” Mijacic told Kosovo Online.

The most important thing, he emphasizes, is that everything remains calm during the pre-election campaign.

“That there are no incidents, which would certainly work in Self-Determination’s favor. Both international actors and all other political stakeholders should work to prevent incidents, and it is almost certain that Self-Determination will base its campaign on further pressure on the Serbian people,” he notes.

Considering that next week the newly elected Serbian mayors in the north, who will replace the Albanian ones, will take office, Mijacic says that this process will be under great scrutiny from the international and domestic public, and that it will be too early for the new local authorities to come under pressure from the central-level government before December 28.

“I think that will be set aside at least until the pre-election campaign is over,” Mijacic says.
