Mijacic: Topics in Brussels will be the CSM, de-escalation, elections, and Banjska

Dragisa Mijacic, the Coordinator of the National Convention on the EU for Chapter 35, stated that the dialogue must continue regardless of how it was perceived in Belgrade or Pristina. He also expects this message to be reiterated today in Brussels, where leaders of EU member states will gather.

Today in Brussels, as announced, the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, and the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, will also be present, and Mijacic does not rule out the possibility of their joint meeting at the beginning of the EU leaders' summit.

"There is simply no alternative to dialogue. The 'big five' also conveyed this last week during meetings in Belgrade and Pristina with Vucic and Kurti. They emphasized that there is no alternative to dialogue, and the format of the negotiations will not change," Mijacic said for Kosovo Online.

He added that EU, US, Germany, France, and Italy envoys did not come to Belgrade and Pristina on October 21 without proposals and ideas about continuing the dialogue.

"They have apparently put forward some proposals regarding the continuation of the dialogue. We have not heard these proposals, but we will find out very soon, by the end of this week, when the European Council presents decisive measures towards both Belgrade and Pristina regarding the further implementation of the agreement on the normalization process, as well as its annex signed earlier this year. I believe that the main focus will be on the formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities, de-escalation, organizing elections in northern Kosovo, as well as transparency in the investigation of everything related to recent events in Banjska," Mijacic emphasized.

According to our interlocutor, there are many topics on the table.

"I believe that negotiations in Brussels will continue somewhere. President Vucic announced that he would be in Brussels, and we will probably see Kurti there too, so there is a possibility of some trilateral or bilateral meeting in Brussels just before the EU leaders' summit to define all the proposals submitted last Saturday and for both sides to express their positions regarding these proposals. This could happen before the meetings of the heads of state and government of EU member states," Mijacic said.
