Molina: Spain will never support the recognition of self-proclaimed Kosovo

The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Ivica Dacic, today received in a farewell visit the Ambassador of Spain, Raul Bartolome Molina, who is concluding his term in Belgrade. On this occasion, Dacic expressed special gratitude for Spain's firm position regarding the respect for Serbia's territorial integrity and sovereignty, particularly its principled stance of not recognizing the independence of Kosovo, as well as continuous support for Serbia's Eurointegration.

Molina emphasized that Spain's position on Kosovo was steadfast and principled, noting that his country supported the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina but would never support the recognition of the "self-proclaimed" Kosovo.

As stated in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announcement, Dacic thanked Ambassador Molina for his dedication and personal contribution to intensifying political dialogue and developing overall relations between Serbia and Spain. He recalled that during Molina's term, in July of the previous year, a historic visit by Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez had taken place, marking the first official visit of the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Spain to Serbia. Additionally, President Aleksandar Vucic visited Madrid in February of the same year, where he met with the Spanish King Felipe VI.

It was mutually noted that the political relations between the two countries were excellent and without any outstanding issues, with mutual support on matters of vital national interest for both countries and a positive tendency for their further improvement.

The Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs pointed out that significant progress had also been made in the field of economic cooperation, highlighting that the foreign trade exchange between the two countries had exceeded one billion euros for the first time last year.

The Spanish Ambassador thanked Minister Dacic for the assistance and support he had received during his mandate.

Molina emphasized the need to further deepen the economic cooperation between the two countries. In this regard, he highlighted the importance of the initiated practice of holding business forums and the signed Framework Protocol on financial and technical cooperation between the Government of Serbia and the Government of Spain in the field of infrastructure projects, which was expected to contribute to the increase of Spanish investments, the announcement stated.
