Montgomery: Weak and pathetic EU, Serbia should not participate in the dialogue until they force Kurti to form the CSM

Former US Ambassador to Serbia William Montgomery said for Kosovo Online that it is a fact that the United States of America and the European Union can force Albin Kurti to implement the commitments made in Brussels, including the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities, and until they do so, as he believes, Serbia should not participate in the dialogue.
Considering the latest urgency from Washington addressed to Pristina, with the message that it is time for the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities to be formed, the question arises whether this rush is motivated by the goal of reaching a final agreement between Belgrade and Pristina by the end of this year. However, Montgomery believes that it is not realistic that all open issues in the dialogue will be resolved by the end of 2023.
"There is no chance that everything will be resolved this year. The fact is that the US and the EU could force Kurti to implement the commitments made in Brussels, including the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities. Until they do that, Serbia should stop participating in this "dialogue". It is crazy to see Kurti not implementing the agreement that Kosovo reached and to continue making other agreements with him. How weak and pathetic the EU looks," Montgomery says.
He adds that the European Union is demonstrating its political weakness here.
"The EU, with more than 300 million people and a great economy, cannot force a small country to abide by an agreement they sponsored. That shows its political weakness," Montgomery concludes.
