Muhaxhiri: Bislimi’s influence minimal, meetings with Sorensen pure formality
Political analyst Artan Muhaxhiri stated in a comment for Kosovo Online that Kosovo and Serbia lack the will to improve the quality of the dialogue, and that the individual meetings between Besnik Bislimi and Petar Petković with Peter Sorensen in Brussels were merely an introduction and pure formality.
“There will be no major difference compared to before, because the dialogue depends on the actors involved – Kosovo and Serbia. They have no will to improve the quality of the dialogue. These meetings were just an introduction for Mr. Sorensen, but I believe he will very quickly come to understand the context and the gravity of this dialogue,” said Muhaxhiri.
When asked about Bislimi’s capacity, considering he is serving in a technical mandate, and whether it makes sense to schedule dialogue talks before Kosovo’s political situation is resolved, Muhaxhiri said this is a very important issue.
“Legitimacy is also important, because Kosovo currently does not have a functional parliament, so Mr. Bislimi cannot provide any information or be rational in the dialogue. This meeting in Brussels is merely a formality meant to show that the dialogue is continuing, but it holds no real power or influence because we do not have a new government or parliament. That is why Bislimi’s influence and power are minimal, and he cannot make any important decisions in this political context,” Muhaxhiri emphasized.
