The Chairwoman of the Committee for Kosovo and Metohija in the Serbian Parliament, Danijela Nikolic, stated that it is very important that the Serb List registered for the elections on February 9th, and emphasized that it is crucial for the party to win all ten guaranteed mandates for the Serbian community in the parliament. This, she said, would ensure protection from unpopular decisions and laws that are not in the interest of the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, including potential legal changes that Albin Kurti may seek in the near future.

Returning to the institutions, she stressed, aims to give the Serbian people a voice at a time when life has never been harder for Serbs in Kosovo and to ensure a normal life for them through institutions.

“I believe in the unity of Serbs and in the common goal of preserving the Serbian people, and the Serb List has the strength to do this, taking care of all Serbs. We can see the direction in which the political actions of Albin Kurti and his regime are heading. His goal is to win these elections and, with the help of some other Serbs, which is a very bad message, because at this moment, the Serbian people cannot afford to fight on multiple fronts. It is fine to have different opinions, but it is not okay to stand with those who are expelling and arresting your people, killing children, and driving Serbs out,” Nikolic said.

She believes that if other Serbian parties enter the parliament in Pristina, Albin Kurti will seek those who can provide the necessary two-thirds support to amend the Constitution or pass other acts that are unacceptable to the Serbian community.

“The regime of Albin Kurti will do everything to label the Serb List as a terrorist organization by February 9th. The strategy under which the Serb List will participate in the elections is crucial, as well as how it will return to the institutions in the coming period. Local elections are also ahead, and we have seen that Kurti’s regime has used the lack of local Serbian mayors to impose everything that is not in the interest of the Serbian people and to carry out a policy that would lead to the final ethnic cleansing of Serbs from the territory of Kosovo and Metohija,” Nikolic said.
