The Office for Kosovo and Metohija stated that with today's action in the densely populated part of Kosovska Mitrovica, "Kurti's police" had once again demonstrated excessive use of force in northern Kosovo, with the sole aim of intimidating and terrorizing the Serbs.

"It is a fact that Kurti's squads are trigger-happy whenever they find themselves in Serbian communities, so today they fired several volleys that ended up in the houses of Serbian hosts, buildings, and windows", the Office for Kosovo and Metohija said.

They emphasize that it was only by sheer luck that there were no injuries or casualties in this action by the Pristina police, in the middle of the day, when there were more residents on the streets during the weekend. This caused great unrest among the Serbs who have, as stated, "countless times suffered precisely from Kurti's policemen".

The Office for Kosovo and Metohija points out that these are deliberate provocations that add additional unrest and raise tensions in northern Kosovo, of which international representatives must be aware.

"No action under the guise of dealing with crime should be a pretext for additional escalation on the ground and a showdown with the Serbs", the statement from the Office for Kosovo and Metohija concludes.

Near the Faculty of Economics in North Mitrovica today around noon, members of the Kosovo Police used automatic weapons. The Deputy Director of the Kosovo Police for the Northern Region, Veton Elshani, told Kosovo Online that the police patrol had tried to stop a person suspected of having narcotics in the car.
