Office for Kosovo and Metohija: Kurti’s police want to deprive the youngest Serbs of education in their mother tongue
Kurti’s police today in the northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica usurped and shut down the premises of the “Official Gazette,” thereby preventing the regular supply of Serbian pupils and schools with textbooks and teaching materials, the Office for Kosovo and Metohija stated in a press release.
As emphasized in the statement of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, “the insidious attack by the so-called inspectors of the illegitimate municipal authorities, installed contrary to the will of the residents of the Serb-majority northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica, is an indirect attack on children, aimed at depriving the youngest Serbs of the possibility of being educated in their mother tongue and according to the curricula of the Republic of Serbia.”
“In democratic societies, local authorities are there to serve citizens. However, as has once again been confirmed, Kurti’s anti-Serb ‘gauleiter’ authorities in northern Kosovo and Metohija serve only as instruments of oppression of citizens and as mechanisms for violating basic human rights. Kurti’s attack on institutions that guarantee the survival of the Serbian people in northern Kosovo and Metohija continues his policy of ethnic cleansing, aimed at expelling everything Serbian from Kosovo and Metohija,” the Office for Kosovo and Metohija stated.
Inspectors of the Municipality of North Mitrovica today closed the premises of the “Official Gazette,” which supplies students educated in the Serbian system with textbooks.
Inspectors told the employees that the premises belong to the Municipality and that they do not have a permit to operate.
