Office for Kosovo and Metohija: Removing the memorial plaque dedicated to Serbian soldiers is an attempt to erase the traces of Serbian existence

The removal and displacement of the memorial plaque dedicated to Serbian soldiers who perished in the Balkan Wars and World War I, at the military section of the Orthodox cemetery in Pristina, is an attempt to erase all traces of Serbian presence in Kosovo and brutally rewrite history, the Office for Kosovo and Metohija stated.

According to the statement from the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, they have informed the OSCE mission and other international missions operating in Kosovo about this anti-civilizational act, demanding specific answers and accountability from the perpetrators of this vandal act.

They also emphasize that, in cooperation with the Eparchy of Raska and Prizren, they will use all legal mechanisms and possibilities to return the memorial plaque to its original place.

"It is particularly concerning that the removal of the memorial plaque dedicated to the Serbian victims took place in plain sight, according to testimonies from priests and foreign representatives in Kosovo and Metohija, which raises the question of whether Pristina, in its policy of desecration, denial, and erasure of all things Serbian, actually has a free hand to act in this manner", the statement says.

According to them, Pristina is bothered by both the living and the deceased Serbs in Kosovo.

"After desecrating Serbian bones in Kosovska Mitrovica, desecrating, burning, and demolishing Serbian graves and memorials, it is clear that Pristina is bothered by both the living and the deceased Serbs who gave their lives for peace and freedom in these areas, noble ideals that have no value for Albin Kurti and his followers", the statement from the Office for Kosovo and Metohija emphasizes.

It is stated that the glorious and heroic past of the Serbs in Kosovo is something that no one will ever be able to erase.

"Because it is our duty to preserve the memory of our ancestors who gave the most valuable thing, their lives, so that future generations can live in a better world", the statement from the Office for Kosovo and Metohija concludes.
