We call for the continuous respect of the judicial system in Kosovo, including the Constitutional Court. The OSCE Mission supports calls for the timely formation of the Assembly, prioritizing the broader interests of all Kosovo residents, the OSCE Mission in Pristina told Kosovo Online.

Regarding the accusations made by Kosovo authorities against Constitutional Court judge Radomir Laban, as well as criticism of the Court’s decision concerning the constitution of the Assembly, the OSCE mission states that the Constitutional Court protects Kosovo society by acting as the ultimate guardian of the Constitution and the legal order.

“It ensures the rule of law, protects fundamental rights, and serves as a mechanism for dispute resolution. Additionally, it reviews the constitutionality of laws and guards against potential abuses of power by other branches of government. This helps maintain a stable and democratic society,” the OSCE noted.

As they added, they have paid attention to the recent opinion of the Constitutional Court and President Osmani’s decision to withdraw her request submitted to that court.

“Constructive disagreement is an essential part of democratic life, but it should always be resolved through dialogue, mutual respect, adherence to legal norms, and through established institutions,” the OSCE mission response to Kosovo Online emphasizes.

The Self-Determination Movement, it should be recalled, stated that the Constitutional Court’s decision regarding the constitutive session of the Assembly represents a dangerous deviation from its constitutional role and contradicts the basic principles of the rule of law and separation of powers.
