Petkovic: Albin Kurti is the biggest security threat to the region; his target isn't just Serbia

Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, stated that Albin Kurti, as an ideological offspring of Adem Demaci and a faithful follower of the aggressive Greater Albanian expansionist idea, was the biggest security threat to the region, and that as long as he held positions of power, nobody in the Western Balkans would be able to sleep peacefully.

"Kurti believes that the world's current crisis is an opportunity he must not miss. He sees this moment as a chance to carry out, with impunity and without international repercussions, brutal ethnic cleansing of the Serbs from their ancestral hearths in Kosovo and Metohija. Moreover, he aims to destabilize and attempt to disintegrate other states in the Western Balkans where the Albanians are prominent as a demographic and political factor", Petkovic stated in the press release.

In that sense, as he says, Kurti's prey is not only Serbia but also other countries in the region where he aims to implement the Greater Albanian project through aggressive methods, targeting the weak or peace-loving nations.

"He attempts to present that project as an inevitability in international public opinion by playing on the Europeans' fear of a recurrence of conflicts in the Western Balkans, even though he himself is the sole and the greatest producer of crises in the region", Petkovic stated.

He adds that Serbia is indeed peace-loving but not weak, and it hasn't feared even bigger bullies than Albin Kurti in the past.

"This is our response to all his daydreaming about Greater Albania and some kind of de facto or de jure recognition by Serbia. Belgrade is always ready to engage in peaceful conflict resolution in the region as long as there is a glimmer of hope that it can curb the violent madness of Albin Kurti and his like-minded associates. However, at no moment will we yield to threats or consent to injustice being legalized through violence", the announcement of the Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija stated.
