Petkovic: Belgrade will consider the return of up to 1,000 security forces to Kosovo and Metohija

Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, said that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti continued the occupation of northern Kosovo and announced that due to the latest developments, Serbia would consider the possibility of sending up to 1,000 security forces to Kosovo.

Petkovic stated at an extraordinary press conference that after Kurti attacked wine and brandy and the Serbian people in Velika Hoca today and after he and the Kosovo Police mistreated children in the kindergarten in Leposavic, tonight he sent the Kosovo Police to the north of Kosovo.

"According to our knowledge, 300-350 Kosovo policemen with riffles and armored vehicles invaded the north of Kosovo and blocked Kosovska Mitrovica and stationed themselves in mixed communities. The reason for the police incursion into the north of Kosovo is allegedly the fact that the Albanians who live there are afraid of everything what is happening. I will also remind you that two days ago there was a showdown between Kurti and the citizens of the north in order to force the holding of elections," he said.

He emphasized that the Albanian police from the south of Kosovo, according to the Brussels Agreement and point 9, had no right to be present in the north of Kosovo.

"Everyone knows this, and everyone ignores and allows Kurti to carry out actions and trample on the Brussels agreement. These are policemen in full war gear, stopping people and harassing them. After this move by Kurti, there will be very significant changes in the dialogue, but more on that will be said later by the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic”, Petković pointed out.

According to him, under the Resolution 1244, Belgrade will consider the return of up to 1,000 Serbian security forces to Kosovo.

"Vucic repeated many times that we would not allow a new pogrom of our people. I hope that those who need to talk some sense into Kurti understand this message, because we will not allow our people to suffer. Let those in the west take care, so that they are not surprised by our decisions, because we are not the ones who provoke and violate agreements. Kurti does all this, and someone allows it," Petkovic added.
