Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, announced that, following the decision of the Municipal Assembly of North Mitrovica to allocate municipal land to the Kosovo Ministry of Internal Affairs, the "occupational gauleiter Albin Kurti from northern Kosovska Mitrovica" has taken a new step towards the complete militarization and occupation of northern Kosovo with his paramilitary forces, "continuing the seizure of land in this predominantly Serbian municipality."

Petkovic reminded that the entire international community has been repeatedly warned about such actions.

He explained that the "occupying authorities" in the municipality of North Mitrovica today, without prior notice, public debate, or any consultation with citizens, allocated a large parcel of municipal land housing the Public Utility Company "Standard," Public Utility Company "Vodovod," and the Temporary Authority of Kosovo Mitrovica for the purposes of the Kosovo Ministry of Internal Affairs, "to further complicate the burdens imposed on the Serbian people north of the Ibar and to create a new police fortress in Serbian communities."

"The usurpation of this land by Kurti's occupying gauleiters is another attempt to provoke a new crisis in northern Kosovo and Metohija, thus avoiding Pristina's obligations regarding the establishment of the Community of Serbian Municipalities and preventing the resolution process of illegal mayors initiated by Serbs from the north of these municipalities," emphasized Petkovic.

The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija stated that he informed all international officials about this "unlawful and new escalatory decision" by Albin Kurti and expects an urgent reaction from them to stop the "rampage of this Kurti's gauleiter."

"In these utility companies, more than 300 people are employed, and as many families make a living from this job, while the number of employees in the Temporary Authority is significantly higher. In the immediate vicinity of these facilities are the Sports Hall, railway and bus stations, the construction of a school for Roma children has started in that area, which has been stopped by this occupying mayor. There are also residential buildings, student dormitories, and there is no need or purpose for the members of Kurti's police, known only for causing harm to the Serbian people, to move in there," concluded Petkovic.
