Petkovic: Fragile peace in the north preserved by Vucic’s wise policy and the responsibility of Serbs
Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, responded to Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani’s remarks at the Hudson Institute, in which she mentioned Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic. He stated that she had a “clouded judgement” because Kosovo, after 45 attempts, has still failed to constitute its governing institutions and is now, “in a delirium,” launching crude insults at President Vucic and falsely accusing Belgrade of its own violent plans.
“Only the clouded minds of Pristina’s politicians could so shamelessly twist facts and openly lie, as the facts themselves directly contradict them,” Petkovic emphasized in a statement.
He noted that Kosovo has undertaken 142 escalatory actions in the north over the past two years, since EU member states called on Pristina on June 3, 2023, to urgently de-escalate the situation in the north.
Petkovic stressed that Pristina’s violent and unilateral actions are deliberately calculated to raise tensions and provoke a crisis in northern Kosovo. However, he added, the Serbian people, despite the daily pressure and intimidation from Albin Kurti and Vjosa Osmani, have managed to maintain peace and avoid responding to provocations.
“That is why the fragile peace in northern Kosovo and Metohija is preserved solely thanks to the wise and measured policy of President Vucic and the sense of responsibility shown by the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija,” Petkovic concluded.
He also posted on the social media platform X, sharing a clip of Osmani’s speech, claiming that “she no longer hides how obsessed she is with Vucic.”
“Vjosa doesn’t even hide anymore how obsessed she is with Vucic, wherever she goes, she can’t stop talking about him. Now she’s taken it a step further and is hallucinating about ducks,” Petkovic wrote.
The Kosovo President stated that the people of Kosovo did not participate in war crimes.
“I mean, we all went through the war, we were children of war, we lived through a terrible war, but we didn’t participate – the people of Kosovo did not take part in the crimes. When you look at Vucic, that man was Milosevic’s minister of propaganda. I mean, that’s the truth. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, then…,” Osmani said during her visit to the US.
