Petkovic: Instead of working on de-escalation, Kurti continues to show his militant face

The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, said that Pristina had no right to "form the so-called Kosovo Army" and that "no one is naive to believe in Kurti's tall stories about some kind of "defensive reasons" for arming the so-called Security Forces" and added that Kosovo Prime Minister continued to show his militant face with weapons and propaganda statements.

"Pristina has no right under any valid agreement to form the so-called Kosovo Army, nor to arm members of the so-called Kosovo Security Forces, despite the daily efforts of Albin Kurti to rattle weapons and deal with the bare-handed Serbs," Petkovic said in a written statement, as reported by the Office for Kosovo and Metohija.

He added that the only valid formation in the Kosovo and Metohija area was the KFOR international mission.

"The only valid military armed formation on the territory of Kosovo and Metohija is the KFOR international mission, and it must remain so, whether Kurti likes it or not. No one is naive to believe Kurti's tall stories about some kind of "defensive reasons" for arming members of the so-called Kosovo Security Forces when no one is threatening him. The only one who makes threats is Kurti, who with his unilateral moves shows every day that he wants conflicts,” the Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija emphasized.

He pointed out that the threat to peace and security in these areas and the region of the entire Western Balkans was Albin Kurti, for whom the violation of agreements, attacks on the Serbs, and playing a non-existent victim were a part of everyday life.

"Instead of working to de-escalate the situation on the ground and calm the crisis he caused with his unilateral actions in the north of Kosovo and Metohija, Albin Kurti continues to show his militant face with weapons and propaganda statements. But in fact, behind all those messages by Kurti, with which he only wants to appear strong in the eyes of the public, there is a weak man who looked so insignificant in front of President Vucic in all previous meetings in Brussels," Petkovic pointed out.
