Vasic: We are requesting protection of legality before the Supreme Court regarding Trajkovic's detention
Dejan Vasic, the lawyer representing Sladjan Trajkovic from North Mitrovica, who is suspected of allegedly committing a war crime, filed a request for protection of legality with the Supreme Court of Kosovo today, as the Pristina Court has once again issued a decision to extend the pre-trial detention measure.
"The proceedings against Mr. Trajkovic have been conducted from the beginning with gross violations of the law by the Special Prosecutor's Office, conducting the investigation without allowing the defense to be present during investigative actions. I have requested the Supreme Court to mitigate the measures for my client, based on health reasons and in accordance with the previous practice for these criminal offenses against the residents of Kosovo," Vasic said.
Trajkovic was arrested on December 15 in the Bosniak Mahala area of North Mitrovica on suspicion of involvement in a war crime. In early November of last year, together with other colleagues, he resigned from the Kosovo Police in protest against the violence perpetrated by the authorities in Pristina against Serbs in the north.
