Petkovic: Nervousness in Pristina because of the obligations it has to fulfill, Serbia complied with all requests
The nervousness in Pristina due to the outcome of the recent meeting in Ohrid is escalating day by day and shows that the political actors there are panicking, not because of the obligations facing Belgrade, but because of the obligations facing Pristina, which it has so far brazenly refused to fulfill, it was pointed out tonight by the director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic.
"One of those obligations is work on the formation of the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities, and the other, as shown by today’s, to put it mildly, inappropriate statement by the president of the parliament of the temporary institutions of self-government in Pristina, Glauk Konjufca, is determining the fate of the missing persons. Pristina extremists base their freakish separatist ideology on lies that the Albanians did not commit any crimes and terrorist acts in Kosovo and Metohija, even though the indisputable facts say the exact opposite, and because of this, the former leaders of the KLA are now the subject of criminal investigations and international court proceedings," Petkovic said in a statement.
Belgrade, on the other hand, is aware of the fact that determining the fate of the missing is primarily a question of humanity, not daily politics, underlined Petkovic.
"We showed absolute responsiveness and constructiveness and acted according to all the requests of the other party - which means that we investigated 23 locations in central Serbia in order to determine whether the remains of missing persons may be resting there. Konjufca should know that, for unlike Belgrade, Pristina investigated only one of the locations, and to this day we are waiting for our request to investigate nine more locations in Kosovo and Metohija," said Petkovic.
He reminded that the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, confirmed on several occasions with public messages, but also with concrete actions, that for Serbia, determining the fate of the missing is an important segment of the process of reconciliation and building better Serbian-Albanian relations, so that all the insane accusations of Konjufca fall into the water before facts.
"Konjufca will prove his commitment to the process of stabilizing the situation in the region when he himself publicly invites and encourages the investigation of locations where, according to well-founded suspicions, the remains of people killed by Albanian separatists are found. We remain of the opinion that determining the fate of the missing is one from the conditions for the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina, and I don't want to answer Konjufca in more explicit language, even though he deserved it, because the issue of the missing is not something that decent people can abuse for political purposes," Petkovic stressed.
Konjufca told TV1 "that if the international community says that Vucic does not know where they disappeared, then he is lying, because Vucic knows where they are".
He requested that the President of Serbia be accused as Vladimir Putin.
"Hiding the crimes and genocide committed in Kosovo, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic deserves to be tried by the International Court, as is currently being done against Russian President Vladimir Putin," Konjufca said, adding that he is committing a serious crime against humanity.
