Petkovic: Osmani’s attacks on Belgrade deceive no one, the terror against Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija proves her wrong

The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, stated that when Vjosa Osmani speaks about destabilization, “it is clear she is referring to the so-called Kosovo, which is in fact the main source of instability in the Western Balkans region.” He emphasized that this is evidenced by more than 700 incidents directed against the Serbian people in Kosovo.

Petkovic notes that neither in Pristina nor within the international community is Vjosa Osmani taken seriously anymore, and that her attempts to “mislead the public, spread empty rhetoric, and attack Belgrade” deceive no one, as the daily attacks on Serbs, the Serbian Orthodox Church, children, women, and returnees prove otherwise.

“There is no nation in modern Europe more endangered than the Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija, who are targets of arbitrary arrests, whose vital institutions have been unlawfully shut down, and as a result of Pristina’s anti-Serb and escalatory policies, nearly 20 percent of Serbs from northern Kosovo and Metohija have been forced to leave their homes,” the head of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija said.

He adds that the latest provocation and inflammatory statement will not achieve its goal, as Belgrade remains committed to peace, stability, and compromise.

“The fragile peace in Kosovo and Metohija is preserved solely thanks to the responsible policy of President Aleksandar Vucic and the Serbian people, who endure Osmani’s and Kurti’s terror and refuse to fall for provocations. Therefore, Osmani’s latest verbal provocation and inflammatory rhetoric will not succeed, because Belgrade is committed to peace, stability, and compromise, while Pristina knows only how to create crises and tensions,” Petkovic stressed.
