Petkovic with Troccaz: Kurti's only goal is to provoke new tensions
Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, held discussions today with the Special Envoy of France for the Western Balkans, Rene Troccaz, whom he briefed thoroughly on the situation in Kosovo and the jeopardized security of the Serbian people due to, as he pointed out, the violent and unilateral acts of Pristina, as well as during the dialogue taking place in Brussels.
As reported by the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petkovic emphasized that Pristina had declined the invitation for dialogue at the chief negotiator's technical level, scheduled for November 7 in Brussels, while Belgrade had timely confirmed its participation in the dialogue.
The meeting was canceled, and in this manner, as the director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija stated, Pristina made it clear that dialogue, normalizing relations, and de-escalating the situation on the ground did not interest them, but rather, they aimed to change the situation on the ground through militarization.
Regarding the position of the Serbian people in the province, Petkovic informed the interlocutor about the violence and terror that the regime of Albin Kurti perpetrates daily against Serbs in Kosovo, which Belgrade continually brings to the attention of the international community.
In that context, Petkovic emphasized that the exclusive culprit for the current situation in northern Kosovo is Albin Kurti, who persists in provocations, unilateral actions, unjustified arrests, and false accusations against Serbs, and in consistently refusing to establish the Community of Serb Municipalities, as well as to call and conduct elections in four municipalities in the north.
From all the above, it is evident that the Albanian side's sole goal is to provoke new tensions and exacerbate the situation on the ground, which leads to the direct negation of the very purpose of the dialogue, Petkovic stressed, adding that Kurti has no intention of working on the normalization of coexistence between Serbs and Albanians and interethnic trust because his ultimate plan, he emphasized, is "Kosovo and Metohija without Serbs."
Despite everything, as Petkovic concluded, Belgrade remains a constructive party, committed to finding compromises for the normalization of relations and the establishment of lasting and sustainable peace.
