Petkovic: Pristina rejected the invitation for dialogue that was supposed to take place on November 7th
The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, confirmed that Pristina had declined the invitation for dialogue at the technical level, which was supposed to take place on November 7th in Brussels, and that Belgrade had accepted the invitation, as reported by RTV.
The date of this visit was also mentioned on Sunday by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic. In an interview with Tanjug yesterday, he mentioned that a new round of dialogue had been planned for November 6th or 7th in Brussels, but that the other side had not accepted it.
Petkovic explained that the EU Special Representative, Miroslav Lajcak, had sent an email invitation to Belgrade and Pristina for a new round of dialogue scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, November 7th.
"Belgrade promptly responded to this invitation via email on November 2nd and emphasized the importance of continuing discussions, particularly in the direction of de-escalation and stabilizing the situation on the ground. However, Pristina and its negotiator Besnik Bislimi simply rejected this invitation. Therefore, on November 3rd, we were informed by the EU that tomorrow's meeting in Brussels has been canceled," Petkovic stated to Tanjug.
He emphasized that by doing this, Pristina and its negotiator, Besnik Bislimi, had shown no interest in dialogue, normalization, and de-escalation.
"It should be clear to everyone now that Pristina is exclusively committed to terrorizing Serbs, making threats, escalating the situation, and creating new crises instead of engaging in dialogue. While refusing to participate in discussions, Albin Kurti continues to threaten Serbs with additional Albanian police forces, which he claims will not stop in the south or the north. In contrast to Kurti's militant rhetoric, Belgrade is doing its best to ensure peace and protect the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, striving to remain a constructive and credible party in the dialogue and firmly committed to resolving all issues at the negotiating table. Pristina's refusal to participate in the dialogue shows its intention to pursue its interests through confrontation, violence, and unilateral escalatory actions against Serbs," Petkovic stated.
He also mentioned that he had informed all representatives of the international community, especially the representatives of the Quint countries, about Pristina's decision.
