Petkovic: We reiterated our proposal; Pristina is not ready for compromise

The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic, stated after the meeting in Brussels that the Belgrade delegation had presented a balanced proposal for solving the issue of payment transactions during today's round of dialogue, but that Pristina was not ready for compromise.

"We have once again reiterated our position, our proposal which implies a compromise solution. There was not enough willingness from the Pristina side, to put it that way," Petkovic stated, as reported by Euronews.

As he emphasized, the Serbian delegation took the opportunity to once again stress the difficult position of the Serbian people in Kosovo due to their inability to receive salaries and pensions.

"We strongly advocated once again for the urgent formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities, and I pointed out that 4,000 days have passed since Pristina put its signature," Petkovic conveyed.

He announced that in about ten days, he expects another call from the EU Special Envoy Miroslav Lajcak for a meeting on the topic of the dinar and payments.

"Everything that has been happening to us until today and all the problems we face would not exist if we had the CSM formed," Petkovic said.

He also emphasized that Belgrade was a committed party seeking solutions within the dialogue framework, and that the actions of the Prime Minister of the interim Pristina institutions, Albin Kurti, could not contribute to the normalization of relations.

"We must strive for compromise and insist on it, and find a solution within the dialogue framework to preserve peace and stability," Petkovic emphasized.
