By failing to fulfill the obligation to provide conditions for the establishment of the Community of Serb Municipalities, Pristina has clearly demonstrated that it has no intention of participating in creating conditions for the normalization of political and interethnic relations in the region, stated today the Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, Petar Petkovic.

Petkovic, during a meeting with the French lawmaker and head of the French delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Bertrand Bouyx, emphasized that today marks four thousand days since Pristina undertook the obligation to fulfill the only obligation from the Brussels Agreement and create conditions for the establishment of the Community of Serb Municipalities, which it has not done. In doing so, Pristina has clearly shown that it has no intention of participating in creating conditions for the normalization of political and interethnic relations in the region.

"The absence of good intentions and willingness on the part of Pristina is also indicated by the unreasonable, unilateral decision of Albin Kurti to abolish Serbia's payment system and the dinar as a means of payment, aimed at making life unbearable for Serbs in the province and ultimately expelling the Serbian people from Kosovo and Metohija. With this decision, 100,000 Serbs in the province, who have been deprived of their income – salaries, pensions, and social assistance, have been pushed to the brink of a humanitarian catastrophe," he warned, questioning whether these are the values that have recommended Kosovo for membership in the Council of Europe.

Petkovic emphasized that, despite the ongoing obstruction of normalization on the ground and the escalation of problems, Pristina has been rewarded with the prospect of membership in the Council of Europe, which, he adds, does not reflect well on the international community.

As stated in the announcement, he added that despite everything, Belgrade will continue to advocate for a peaceful and compromise resolution of issues on the ground.
