Former austrian diplomat Wolfgang Petritsch, who took part in the negotiations in Rambouillet, said that Kosovo needs to stop being a problem for Europe and must continue its dialogue with Belgrade, Klan Kosova reports.

He noted that he was not satisfied when the EU imposed measures on Kosovo three years ago.

“I can tell you that when sanctions were imposed on Kosovo, I was not at all happy about it, to be honest. Now, almost three years after the sanctions were introduced, in such a stagnating situation in Kosovo’s democratic development, I understand the critics in Brussels better than before,” he said.

Petritsch emphasizes that Kosovo must have a democratic and dynamic government, adding that he hopes political parties in Pristina will be able to form a government after the elections, Klan Kosova writes.

“You have to move away from being a problem for Europe. You need to find a solution to the problem in Europe, and especially in the Balkans. You must continue the dialogue. Perhaps a new approach is needed, but the main prerequisite is to have a democratic and dynamic government,” the Austrian diplomat stated.
