President of the Assembly of Kosovo threatens with protests if the US tries to form the CSM without Kurti
The President of the Kosovo Assembly, Glauk Konjufca, commented on the statement of the US Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Gabriel Escobar, that the CSM would be formed with or without the Prime Minister of Kosovo, by saying that was impossible, and that in that case, he would take to the streets together with the citizens, Ekonomia Online reports.
Konjufca also warned about protests, expressing his readiness to participate in them himself, and added that without the Prime Minister of Kosovo, the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities could not be formed.
"It is not a question of whether the CSM will be formed with or without Albin Kurti, but it cannot be formed without the prime minister of Kosovo," Konjufca said on T7.
He adds that if the prime minister and the president of Kosovo do not accept the CSM, it will never be formed.
"If the Prime Minister changes his position, although I don't think it's feasible, someone will always organize the people to stop him," he added.
Konjufca even said he was ready to leave office and take to the streets to stop the creation of the CSM with executive powers.
"If I am not on this position, I am on my way to stopping it. I am asking you to protect Kosovo's interest", he said.
He adds that Serbia is seeking territorial autonomy in Kosovo through the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities and that Kosovo will never allow Serbia to do such a thing because, in his opinion, it is not possible.
"Serbia's position is territorial autonomy in Kosovo. We will never give that. That's not possible, do you understand? It is impossible to find the form of such a Community, we already have a community of Kosovo municipalities", Konjufca stated.
He emphasizes that the CSM based on negotiations between Kosovo and Serbia will never happen because the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, does not accept the Community without executive powers.
"The CSM as a form of negotiations between Serbia and Kosovo will never be achieved. Vucic does not accept the CSM without executive powers, while Kosovo does not accept the CSM with executive powers," Konjufca pointed out.
Konjufca adds that Kosovo has international guarantees that the CSM with executive powers cannot be established in Kosovo.
"But they say go talk to Vucic," he said.
