The Quint: We welcome the decision to postpone the elections

The Quint countries welcomed Kosovo's decision to postpone the extraordinary elections in the north of Kosovo, the German ambassador in Pristina, Jorn Rohde, announced on his Twitter.

As stated in the joint statement of the Quinte countries, the decision to hold elections was constructive and helped the improvement of the security efforts in the north, which, they said, was key to the EU-facilitated dialogue.

“The Embassies of France, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the EU Office/ EUSR welcome the decision by the Kosovan government and the political party leaders to postpone the municipal and mayoral elections in the four northern municipalities at this time.  This constructive decision advances efforts to promote a more secure situation in the north which is key for the EU-facilitated Dialogue as the only way forward to achieve a comprehensive agreement on normalized relations between Kosovo and Serbia,” the announcement states.
