Member of the Presidency of the Serbian List, Milan Radojevic, stated that the “illegal and illegitimate councilors” of the North Mitrovica Municipal Assembly are once again adopting unlawful decisions, noting that at yesterday’s session they decided to change the designation of land from agricultural to construction use, even though, as Radojevic emphasized, the law does not permit them to do so.

Radojevic pointed out that no one had any knowledge of this decision, nor was any public hearing held or public auction organized, which, he said, the councilors are legally obliged to do.

“Article 10, which concerns the restrictions on the Municipality, clearly states: the Municipal Assembly and the municipal executive authorities may not adopt any decisions related to the use or disposal of municipal real property from the day the president announces local elections. Therefore, this decision is entirely unlawful, entirely illegal, and I assure all citizens that once this illegal and illegitimate municipal authority leaves office and a new administration takes over, all such decisions will be annulled, and those who voted for these unlawful acts will be held accountable before the competent courts,” Radojevic stressed.

He called on the Ministry of Local Self-Government to act in accordance with the law and annul the “illegal and unlawful decision” of the North Mitrovica Municipal Assembly.

Yesterday, the North Mitrovica Municipal Assembly adopted decisions to re-designate a total of seven plots from agricultural to construction land.
