Radovic: I expect that we will collect signatures to initiate the petition for the mayor's dismissal in less than 15 days
Veselin Radovic, a lawyer from Leposavic, who, on behalf of citizens, submitted a request in early December for the removal of Mayor Lulzim Hetemi to the President of the Municipality Assembly of Leposavic, said for Kosovo Online that he believed enough signatures for submitting the petition could be collected within 15 days, if not faster, and that he would inform the public soon about when the signature collection would begin.
"Our request has been approved by the Kosovo institutions, and now the next step is to collect signatures. We are on the ground, consulting with certain relevant actors, and we will inform the public soon about when we will start collecting signatures," Radovic said.
He emphasized that, after handing over the materials for the mayor's dismissal, they were registered as the group initiating the petition.
"With the handover of the materials, we were registered as the group that initiated it. The deadline is 30 days, and within that month, we will decide when we will start and when we will finish submitting the petition. The people are united, and we will probably do it in 15 days or even faster," Radovic said.
Signatures will be collected in public areas, as Radovic added.
"We will coordinate and announce when and where we start collecting signatures," Radovic added.
According to the data from the Central Election Commission of Kosovo, the municipality of Leposavic has 13,441 eligible voters, and 2,689 of them constitute 20% of the electorate, which is the number of necessary signatures to initiate the petition.
