Rajic: Albanian parties will not support a representative of the Serb List, Rasic’s election possible only if they see political gain

Analyst Predrag Rajic said he does not expect that a vice president from the Serbian community will be elected at the next session of the Kosovo Assembly. He is convinced that Albanian parties will not, under any circumstances, support a representative of the Serb List – neither Self-Determination nor the opposition parties – because, as he put it, they believe such a move would not be politically profitable within the Albanian electorate.

Rajic believes the most realistic scenario is that the political parties in Kosovo will wait for the results of the local elections and then decide whether to move in the direction of supporting Rasic or not.

“That is, since the only way for the Assembly to be constituted is if Rasic is elected – because I do not expect that a representative of the Serb List will be chosen under any circumstances – Rasic could be elected if the PDK decides to give at least some support to Self-Determination, if they assess that they performed poorly in the local elections. If, however, they conclude that they did well and are currently stronger than Self-Determination, I believe they would refuse to support Rasic, hoping that the Constitutional Court would then decide to dissolve the Assembly, leading to new elections, which they could then capitalize on,” Rajic told Kosovo Online.
