Jevtic: We are threatened with an exodus, I am asking the international community to reason with Kurti before it is too late
Strpce Mayor Dalibor Jevtic pointed out at today's protest in Rudare that the gathering, which included Serbs south and north of the Ibar, showed unity and a strong will to survive in this fight together.
"When I see this number of our compatriots who are here today, Serbs from the north of Kosovo and Metohija and Serbs from the south, I cannot but say that this number of Serbs is a clear message that we are united in this fight, together, and that in this fight we have a clear message, and it's simply that we just want to be on our own, and live in peace," Jevtic said.
He added that the only goal of Albin Kurti since he came to power was that there were no Serbs north and south of the Ibar river, or that there were, but that they bowed down to him.
"For a year we have suffered terror, for a year there has been no justice for our brothers from Strpce. We are telling those from the international community that the protests are peaceful with a clear message. Part of the Serbs from the south could not come because the police stopped them and sent them back. That is the democracy that Kurti is talking about. Part of us was released with a message: 'be good', and we understood it clearly. But our struggle has one goal, and that is to enforce the rule of law in the heart of Europe. We don't have it today," Jevtic stated.
Jevtic thanked Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, and the State of Serbia for everything they did because, as he said, "we know they are always with us".
Jevtic told the international community to wake up and reason with Kurti before it was too late.
"In the end, as I said, we do not expect that any of the messages we are sending today will be heard by Kurti and his ministers – I expect the international community to wake up and understand. I expect that the barricades, the protest, and the large number of people on the barricades wake them up so they understand that it is not our will to spend days at the barricades, but it is an obligation when we are threatened by violence, an exodus by institutions, when we are threatened by Albin Kurti. So please, stop him before it is too late," Jevtic said in front of the gathered people in Rudare.
