Rakic: We have presented our demands for the illegitimate mayors to leave and for special forces to withdraw

Goran Rakic, the President of the Serb List, stated that the people gathered in front of the Zvecan municipality this morning had voiced two demands: for the illegitimate mayors to leave and govern their own families, and for the ROSU members to withdraw from the north and municipal buildings.

Rakic mentioned that the demands had been conveyed to KFOR and officials.

"Our demands are for the illegal and illegitimate sheriffs, as they call themselves, to go back to their homes and govern their own relatives and families, and for all special units from the municipality and around the building to withdraw, along with armored vehicles. This is not a police station but a municipal building that should serve the people, not have police forces with long guns protecting someone who was elected with 50, or maybe even fewer, votes," Rakic said.

As the Serb List Vice President Igor Simic stated, they will stay with the people until their demands are met.

"We are staying here until our demands are met. We are on our own land. They came uninvited and turned the municipal building, which provided services to both Serbs and Albanians, as well as all other citizens, into a military base. They brought heavily armed people with snipers and long guns near the elementary school. We will not leave until they withdraw," Simic said.

He added that they expect KFOR to remain status-neutral.

"To not provide protection to illegal paramilitary units that are illegally present in Serbian municipalities in northern Kosovo and Metohija. To maintain peace. We are interested in peace. These people came to protect their families. But they must bring under control those who shot our people in the back, those who have been harassing Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija for months, especially in the north. In this regard, we expect KFOR to fulfill its mandate and ensure freedom of movement, free access to the municipality, and enable citizens to exercise their rights. As for those who call themselves sheriffs, we want to tell them that this is not the Wild West. We have our institutions here. We call on KFOR to escort the uninvited guests to the south and enable citizens to exercise their rights in this Serbian municipality, for workers to be able to work normally, and for the situation to return to what it was before Friday when they forcibly entered the building," Simic said.
