As part of a major rotation in diplomatic positions within the European Union worldwide, Miroslav Lajcak, currently the Special Envoy for the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, is expected to become the EU Ambassador to Switzerland, as reported by RFE.

Radio Free Europe learns from diplomatic sources that Lajcak will begin his mandate in the Swiss capital Bern on September 1 this year.

Lajcak was appointed as the EU Special Envoy for the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue on April 3, 2020.

The same sources told RFE that the current EU Ambassador to Estonia, Aivo Orav, has been chosen as the new head of the European bloc's office in Kosovo.

When this is officially confirmed, Orav will replace the outgoing ambassador, Tomas Szunyog, in this role in Pristina.
