Estonian MEP, general, and former commander of the Estonian military, Riho Terras, is likely to become the new European Parliament rapporteur for Kosovo, Kosovo Online learns from diplomatic sources.

Riho Terras is an Estonian politician and former military officer who has been a member of the European Parliament since February 1, 2020. He served as the Commander of the Estonian Defense Forces from 2011 to 2018 and was promoted to general in 2017.

He was elected as a Member of the European Parliament in 2019. In this current term of the European Parliament, Terras is the head of the Estonian delegation of the European People's Party (EPP) group. He is also a member of the Committee on Industry, Research, and Energy and a substitute member of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development.

This year, Terras was also appointed to the delegation for relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo, including the EU-Bosnia and Herzegovina Stabilization and Association Parliamentary Committee and the EU-Kosovo Stabilization and Association Parliamentary Committee.

In the previous two terms of the European Parliament, the European People's Party appointed the rapporteur for Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Social Democrats for Albania and Montenegro, the Liberals for North Macedonia, and the Greens for Kosovo.
