Ristuccia: A solution to calm tensions in the north of Kosovo should be sought through dialogue
The commander of KFOR, Major General Angelo Michele Ristuccia, said that he continued to support the dialogue on finding an agreement to calm tensions in the north of Kosovo. As he stated, he remained in close contact with everyone involved in this process.
"The most important thing is that all involved parties avoid any rhetoric or actions that can cause tensions and escalate the situation. We expect all actors to refrain from provocative demonstrations of force and to seek the best solution to ensure the safety and security of all communities. We call on all parties to help facilitate security and freedom of movement in Kosovo and prevent misleading narratives from influencing the dialogue process," Ristuccia said.
He also states that KFOR has increased its presence and patrols in recent months.
"We remain alert and fully capable of fulfilling our mandate according to UN Security Council Resolution 1244 from 1999 for all communities in Kosovo. Solutions should be sought through dialogue," Ristuccia said.
