Ruecker: The decision to abolish the dinar was hasty

Former UNMIK Chief in Kosovo, Joachim Ruecker, believes that the decision to abolish the dinar in Kosovo was made hastily and that Serbs should be given more time to adapt to such a decision.

Ruecker assessed for Kosova Press that Kosovo was part of the Euro-Atlantic community and said that he saw its future in the EU.

He also commented on the EU's punitive measures toward Pristina, emphasizing that the demands of Kosovo's European partners were very important and that the government should fulfill them to continue moving toward Euro-Atlantic integration.

"I am optimistic about Kosovo's membership in the EU," he said.

Ruecker expressed his belief that there would be results in the medium term regarding the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia.
