Serb List: Decision to postpone the implementation of the Law on Foreigners and the Law on Vehicles is the only rational solution

The Serb List stated that the decision to postpone the implementation of the Law on Foreigners and the Law on Vehicles—which, as they point out, would paralyze the life of the Serbian people in Kosovo—is the only rational solution at this moment, adding that they welcome the strong and sincere engagement of international representatives in seeking a solution.

The Serb List emphasizes that the transitional period should be used to find a model that would resolve this issue and enable a normal life for citizens, as well as for everyone who comes to Kosovo to work or study, above all with regard to freedom of movement.

They stress that it is clear that postponement alone will not resolve the problem of citizens being unable to use their documents or obtain them, or being unable to use their vehicles.

“It is absolutely unacceptable that even after this period we find ourselves in a situation where our citizens, contrary to all international standards and rules, are treated as foreigners in their own homes, villages, and cities, families are separated, or a new challenge is introduced by jeopardizing the vital institutions of our people through any unilateral processes and imposed decisions,” the Serb List stated.

They add that they will continue, as they have so far, to fight for the rights of the Serbian people and the improvement of the conditions in which the Serbian people live, without any intention of diminishing the rights of any other people.

“It is our right to live a life worthy of human dignity in the 21st century. In this struggle, we have been and will continue to be a responsible partner to all those who seek peace, stability, and the normalization of relations,” the Serb List concluded.

The First Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo for European Integration, Development, and Dialogue, in a caretaker capacity, Besnik Bislimi, announced that the implementation of the Law on Foreigners and the Law on Vehicles begins tomorrow, with a transitional period until March 15 during which visitors will be informed about the new procedures and rules.

In a Facebook post, Bislimi stated that in the first phase of implementation, visitors entering Kosovo at crossing points will be provided with informational materials on the special procedures and rules.
