After the meeting with the delegation of the European Parliament, led by French MEP Jean-Lin Lacapelle, President of the Serb List Zlatan Elek stated that he had conveyed to the guests that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti was making life unbearable for the Serbs in order to drive them out of their centuries-old homes. As he stated, the European parliamentarians agreed that the international community was indeed responsible for the situation in the territory of Kosovo.

Elek met with French Members of the European Parliament in North Mitrovica, which they visited.

"We had a substantive and constructive discussion with our European friends, the French parliamentarians. I would mention that they are familiar with the situation in Kosovo and Metohija; it is not their first meeting with the Serb List. We talked about the developments since Albin Kurti came to power, about the extremely difficult position of the Serbs, and about how with Kurti's arrival, the Serbs were put in an unbearable position. We particularly emphasized the recent regulation of the Government of Kosovo on the abolition of the dinar and payment transactions. We received firm assurances, and I am sure that our interlocutors understand our position and will present these facts in the European and French parliaments," Elek emphasized.

He added that during the meeting, they had provided foreign guests with materials clearly showing that a Serbian cemetery in the Brdjani settlement in northern Mitrovica had been plowed over.

"We explained the entire complex political situation in which the Serbs find themselves, and most importantly, we pointed out that the international community had been here since 1999, with almost no progress regarding displaced persons, and most importantly for us was the CSM, where the international community and Brussels were guarantors through the verification of agreements in 2013 and 2015," Elek stated.

As he says, European parliamentarians agreed that the international community was indeed responsible for the situation in the territory of Kosovo.

"We clearly and loudly conveyed to them that we will perceive the international community as an accomplice in the exodus of the Serbs from the territory of Kosovo and Metohija if Kurti's terror against the Serbs here in Kosovo continues. We explained to them the pressures that are being exerted on the Serbs, especially recently in the North. As the Serb List, we fight only for the truth to reach everyone in Europe so they can understand our status here in Kosovo and Metohija," the President of the Serb List concluded.

Lacapelle: We are surprised by Europe's blindness to Kurti's provocations

The MEP Jean-Lin Lacapelle confirmed that they had discussed the difficulties faced by the Serbs with the President of the Serb List and emphasized that they understood the "extremely strong connection between the Serbs and Kosovo", noting that all members of their delegation came from a political movement "that respects tradition, past, history, and Christian roots of the people, in a movement that defends the sovereignty of the people".

"We note that the Serbs no longer have their freedom, especially in Kosovo. We are French, and France has a history of friendship with Serbia. We do not want to be advocates for the Serbs, but to be able to defend and bear witness to the numerous aggressions against the Serbs. The latest provocation, the abolition of the Serbian dinar in favor of the euro, was unacceptable, and we will continue to talk about it in the European Parliament," Lacapelle stated.

He added that they were surprised by the "blindness, and perhaps even complicity, of Europe to Kurti's provocations" and added that they felt there was a will from the Kosovo Government to make the Serbs disappear.

"The European Union, as well as the international community, is not playing its role. Our political party never approved the 1999 bombing. And we do not understand why the EU still does not play its role, which would be to defend the people and the freedom of the people. What we promised and where we engaged in front of the members of the Serb List is to speak in the heart of the European Parliament about all aggressions against the freedom of the Serbs," Lacapelle emphasized.

He stated that their struggle was the same as the struggle of the Serbs, "to defend our history, to defend our Christian roots, against radical Islam which is developing at an exceptional speed - radical Islam which is often promoted by the EU, and we do not want that," the MEP conveyed.

As he explained, since 1999, the situation in the international community has changed.

"The Serbs, who were friends of France, no longer have the same position, and we regret that. I remind you that Emmanuel Macron, during the national holiday on July 14, placed Kosovo officials in the front row, and the Serbs in the third row, which was an insult to French-Serbian friendship. Last week, a resolution against Serbia was also passed in the heart of the EU, in the European Parliament, and it was an unacceptable ultimatum against the Serbs," Lacapelle said.

He emphasized that Serbia was asked for two things: to recognize Kosovo and "Serbia is not doing that and is right", and secondly, to cut ties with Russia, adding that they did not understand why the EU interfered in the internal affairs of the country.

"That's why we are concerned about European institutions, and the next elections are an indicator and a subject of hope for us. Because there are patriotic nations everywhere in Europe and around it, they are awakening and want the EU to change. We, along with Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella, believe that we have a role to play in this great change necessary for the survival of our nations," Lacapelle concluded.
