Serb List: Pristina should call the elections in the north as soon as possible, we are ready to participate in them
The President of the Serb List, Goran Rakic, called on the authorities in Pristina today to call the elections for new mayors and municipal assemblies in the north as soon as possible, with a message that they were ready to participate in them.
Rakic stated in a press conference that "the ball is now in Pristina's court."
"It is necessary for these false, illegal, and illegitimate mayors and councilors who have been tormenting our citizens for months to urgently resign and leave, and exit our buildings because they are not representatives of our people. Their sole purpose is to torment our citizens," Rakic emphasized.
As he stated, life becomes increasingly difficult for the Serbian people every day, and the pressures on our people and our country are unprecedented.
"Kurti's regime continues to intimidate the Serbian people, violating agreements, laws, and all the rights of the Serbian people. We must be united and unanimous and attempt in these impossible conditions to shape our destiny and protect our people," Rakic said, adding that the Serb List had always made political decisions in the interest of citizens without considering whether those decisions were popular or not.
Rakic also emphasized that political decisions had always been made in coordination with Belgrade.
"Therefore, this time, too, we will listen to President Vucic's advice, and today we send a message that we are ready to participate in the elections in the north of Kosovo and Metohija, thereby encouraging the political process and dialogue that would lead to the fulfillment of our conditions, which we have emphasized several times. Therefore, we ask Pristina to call early local elections for mayors and councilors in all four municipalities in the north of Kosovo and Metohija as soon as possible," Rakic stated.
He pointed out that by withdrawing from institutions, they had managed to draw the attention of the world public to the fact that the issue of Kosovo was not resolved, that the Serbian people were suffering, and that it was necessary to form the Community of Serb Municipalities.
"Kurti, under the pretext of expropriation, is persecuting our people and seizing our land in the north. He sends special forces to shoot and arrest our people and take them to prisons in Pristina under the guise of fighting crime," Rakic said.
He called on the citizens to show unity, togetherness, and solidarity, with the message that "the Serbian people are at home and will emerge victorious from this difficult situation."
