Serb List voted against Basha due to his anti-Serb stance

The Serb List today, during the continuation of the constitutive session of the Kosovo Assembly, voted against the election of Self-Determination’s candidate, Dimal Basha, as Speaker of Parliament, citing his anti-Serb position.

“Because of the anti-Serb stance that he reiterated at today’s session of the Assembly in Pristina, with the harshest qualifications directed at the Serbian people and the Serbian state, all nine deputies of the Serb List voted against Dimal Basha, who was proposed for Speaker of the Assembly by Kurti’s Self-Determination,” the Serb List announced on Instagram.

The party stressed that Basha, even in his address after being elected, demonstrated that he is not someone capable of uniting MPs.

“More than half of his speech was dedicated to insulting the Serbian people,” the Serb List underlined.

In his inaugural address, Basha called on Serbia to recognize Kosovo, asserting that Serbia harbors territorial pretensions toward Kosovo.

“I call for a democratized Serbia, one that recognizes Kosovo as an independent state, for good neighborly relations that we can build, and for us to think about creating generations based on mutual respect and tolerance, not on hatred and conflict,” Basha stated.

He also spoke about the difficulties in the north, claiming that the problem lay in “criminal structures supported by Serbia to destabilize Kosovo.”

“But Albin Kurti’s Government, through its work and the professionalism of the police, has succeeded in dismantling criminal groups, and for the first time the state has a monopoly on the use of force across all of Kosovo,” Basha said.

He further mentioned the wife of KLA leader Adem Jashari, noting that she “fought alongside her husband until the last moment against Milosevic’s fascist forces.”
