Serb List: We strongly condemn incidents in Suvi Do, presence of international forces in the north should be increased

The Serb List strongly condemns the series of incidents in the village of Suvi Do, near North Mitrovica, which have disturbed the residents of that settlement and all Serbs in Kosovo.

"After the vandalism at the local ambulance facility, the Church of Saint Petka was desecrated this morning, on the day when the local celebration of Saint Petka Trnova takes place at that sanctuary. For months, we have been warning that anti-Serb rhetoric and lies against Serbs and the Serbian Orthodox Church will incite violence against our people and our sanctuaries, and now we are witnessing exactly that," the Serb List stated in their press release.

They remind everyone that they had previously raised the alarm about what is happening now.

"Now, as we witness these attacks, there is no reaction from either the Kosovo institutions or international representatives. Moreover, some international officials have contributed to the attacks on Serbs and the Serbian Orthodox Church by spreading blatant lies," the statement continued.

They emphasize that, on behalf of the Serbian people, who are committed to peace, dialogue, and tolerance, they demand an increased presence of international forces, KFOR, and EULEX, in northern Kosovo, especially in places where dozens of attacks against Serbs have occurred.

"Their passivity is absolutely counterproductive; on one hand, it sends a message to Serbs that they are not interested in protecting them, and on the other hand, it tells the attackers that Serbs are left at their mercy, creating an atmosphere of impunity for crimes against Serbs, leading to the expectation of further attacks," the Serb List conveys.
