Shala: Kurti will resign if the CSM issue is not resolved

Analyst Drizan Shala said that Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti would have to resign if the Community of Serb-majority Municipalities (CSM) issue was not resolved, Euronews Albania reports.

"The CSM is the cornerstone of the dialogue continuation. According to information, the Kosovo Government has drawn up the association status of municipalities with a Serbian majority. Kosovo cannot avoid responsibility in the CSM establishment," Shala said.

He pointed out that the Government might fall after February 17 if Kurti continued to refuse the formation of the CSM and added that new elections might be held on April 23, when elections in north Kosovo were scheduled.

"In case the Kosovo Government tries to find an alternative solution, our strategic partners will propose finding alternative partners for the CSM implementation. Prime Minister Kurti should resign. The US said that it would stand behind the CSM and that it would be formed. It is expected that we will be left without a government after February 17. Kurti's mission is to form the CSM as soon as possible, otherwise, we will have new elections on April 23 this year, when elections in the north are also planned," Shala said.
