Simic on the RFE article: Fake news that the Serb List has two conditions for participation in elections, I expect an apology and a retraction

Vice President of the Serb List, Igor Simic, has denied the report by Radio Free Europe (RFE) that he stated the Serb List had two conditions for participation in elections in northern Kosovo, and he emphasized that it was fake news.

In a Facebook post, Simic highlighted that he expected an immediate apology and retraction from the RFE editorial team, which had published the news.

He also shared a written response he had provided to the journalist from that media outlet regarding the situation in the north, which reads:

"The priority issues that need to be resolved in order to de-escalate the situation on the ground, and which are also the demands of the Serbs in northern Kosovo and Metohija, are for Kurti's special forces to leave the municipal buildings in the north, for fake mayors who have no legitimacy and legality to not come to these buildings because the citizens did not elect them, and for the unjustifiably arrested Rados Petrovic and Dusan Obrenovic to be released, thus ending the persecution of our fellow citizens who, over the past two years, have defended peace and freedom against the attacks of the Albin Kurti regime."

Simic noted that the stance of the Serb List regarding the elections had been known for some time.

"As for the elections, the stance of the Serb List has been known for some time: Kurti's special forces must first withdraw from northern Kosovo and Metohija, where they are illegally present and have been harassing Serbs for months, even shooting at them, and that, finally, after ten years, the Community of Serb Municipalities should be formed in accordance with the agreements reached in 2013 and 2015," Simic stated.

Simic also called on all media outlets "not to fall for the provocations and fabrications posted on the RFE website."

After Simic's request, RFE added a note beneath the article stating that they did not agree to modify the text.
