The Serb List Vice President Igor Simic stated today that the Serbian community in northern Kosovo will resist starting from June 1st, and he added that this deadline is given if Pristina and the international community fail to influence the cessation of repression against Serbs, which is the result of institutional violence.

"The people cannot tolerate Albin Kurti's regime. We give a deadline until June 1st for the repression against the people to cease, as well as land seizures, false expropriation, arrests, and false indictments. The persecution must stop because innocent Serbs are being held in prisons throughout Kosovo and Metohija. They must stop denying basic rights such as healthcare and education. If these actions continue, the Serbian people will respond on June 1st. We will defend ourselves by all means," Simic stated.

Regarding the oath-taking of the new mayor of North Mitrovica, Erden Atic, he commented that it marked the beginning of the occupation of northern Kosovo.

"At the outset, we want to emphasize that through the efforts of Serbia and the entire nation, we have managed to maintain peace and prevent the people from reacting to Albin Kurti's regime. However, this event officially marks the beginning of the occupation of northern Kosovo and Metohija. But it has a beginning and an end. It will end when the Serbs resolve it. I want to emphasize that we are committed to peace. Peace has been preserved at the invitation of Aleksandar Vucic, especially during the elections. Unfortunately, besides Serbia, Vucic, and the Serbian people, we do not see anyone else willing to preserve peace. However, patience has come to an end," Simic said.

He added that Serbs in Kosovo are committed to peace and have called for peace.

"We are committed to peace, and we have called for peace. The agreement is being violated; Chollet and Stano spoke about the agreement that Serbs have the right to use license plates, but it is in vain," Simic said.

Regarding the incidents, Simic emphasized that the Serb List appeals for them not to happen and that they will not allow them.

"We appeal, we have had meetings, and we state that we will not allow it, especially where Serbs work and in Serbian buildings. The decision to withdraw from the institutions came as a reaction to repression. It is not only the Serb List that has withdrawn but all Serbs who worked in Kosovo institutions. The Serb List will always stand by its people as the strongest Serbian political party in northern Kosovo," Simic stated.

Simic stated that the recent local elections were invalid and illegitimate for the Serbian people and the Serb List.

"We will not give legitimacy to people elected with 100 votes. Furthermore, even the Albanian representatives who were falsely appointed received half the number of votes compared to 2022. I would be ashamed to hold a position and win only one percent of the votes," Simic said.

When asked about the placement of the Kosovo flag on the municipality building in North Mitrovica, Simic stated that he had not seen it.

"I have not seen it, but if you have come here, you can enjoy the view of hundreds of Serbian flags," Simic replied.
